FNT2T Life Long Learning: Free Online Anishinaabe Self-Care Learning Resource by Red Rising Education (Grades 5-12)

Good Day! We hope that everyone is staying safe and well.

Red Rising Education is offering a free online resource for teachers and schools. The lesson is titled, Self-Care as Resistance, which is part of their Resistance unit. The lesson “was created by Anishinaabe educator, Christine M’Lot, to teach students about Anishinaabe theories of wellness centred around Medicine Wheel teachings. This lesson will help educators and students engage in thoughtful conversations about mental health with students and open up discussions about coping strategies. To conclude, students will engage in a Medicine Wheel Goal Setting Activity where they will set goals for themselves in the categories of physical, spiritual, mental and emotional.” (Source: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Self-Care-as-Resistance-5435027).

Educators can access the free resource by creating an account on the website, Teachers Pay Teachers. Once account is created, utilize the search tool to find the resource, and download it in PDF format. There are more lessons available by Red Rising Education on the website for very reasonable pricing. Purchasing the lessons would support Indigenous educators and their valuable work.
