FNT2T Life Long Learning: Share of a Free Online Indigenous Studies Course

Good Day! We hope that everyone is staying safe and well.

FNT2T Life Long Learning would like to share information for a free online Indigenous Studies course that starts on August 11, 2020 (but will accept later registrations up until a certain date).

The course is being taught by the University of Alberta and is available through Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). It is a 12-week beginner level course for those interested in learning about Indigenous peoples, history, and present (contemporary). It will consist of 12 modules utilizing videos, short readings, and notes. Topics covered in Indigenous Studies will include fur trade, land claims, environment, legal systems, activism, art, and much more. Instructors and guest lecturers are Indigenous.

This is a good introductory course for those educators looking to further prepare themselves to engage in learning and teaching about First Nations (Indigenous) peoples and history. It can also serve as a good “refresher” course for those educators seeking to stay informed in First Nations (Indigenous) history and contemporary.

This course has no affiliation with FNT2T Life Long Learning. Those interested can find more information: https://www.coursera.org/learn/indigenous-canada.

Miigwetch!
