Treaty 2 Territory – A smudge and opening prayer by FNT2T Lodge Keeper Allen Sutherland kicked off the Anishinaabe Financial Management Program partnered with our Earth Lodge and the Assiniboine Community College. The ceremony was held at the Parkland Campus in Dauphin, Treaty 2 Territory on April 6, 2021. The program was developed by the Earth Lodge of FNT2T government and is being delivered by Assiniboine Community College virtually. There are 16 participants from local nations in the treaty 2 territory. The students were addressed by Gabe Mercier of A.C.C, and other A.C.C staff involved in the development of the program. Charles Blackbird of A.C.C was the main contact and organizer of the program and worked with FNT2T and the Earth Lodge.
The students will be taking various online instruction courses such as Indigenous history, business law, financial accounting, strategy and decision making and other courses. The program is 18 months in length. The training will give the students the tools to understand and participate in all funding allocations of the FNT2T government with respects to money to the local nations. FNT2T government would like to thank all the people involved in developing this important program for our nations and wish the best to all the students in the program.
